Aug. 6th, 2011 02:38 am[This is exactly the opportunity Kiritsugu had been waiting for.]
[Until now, his most promising plan had been to dispose of the chief of police, but really, Kiritsugu knows he has no way of doing that yet. Even if he were to succeed, losing a man in that position did little the last time it happened. However, to take charge of the role would make him privy to the information the entire town needs to escape. Not only that, the opposition he would receive in acting against key targets would be massively reduced. It sounds like a daunting task, considering the application's requirements, but Kiritsugu doesn't have the same look in his eyes he did a month ago. Losing his children again tore down the walls he had imposed on himself since the fire.]
[He's already aware of two individuals with a spotty record, but neither of them will give him a confession. One is his 'wife', and the other is a certain priest he'd much rather see dead than behind bars. Both are impossible to force into doing so. It seems he'll have to take a different approach.]
[As someone applying for chief of police, he's able to make promises no other resident would be able to. This doesn't mean he has to fulfill them if not doing so keeps the residents safe, of course. Perhaps it's time to take advantage of his newly regained mentality.]
[Phone]
I require the private confessions of five moderate to large offenses for the post of chief of police. I can promise you that you will not be persecuted, and if incarcerated, you will be released if I obtain the position.
[He's not too happy about doing this so publicly, but there is no other way to do so. He's very careful to not say anything about himself, in the interest of cloaking his identity. If he's recognized by anyone that knows him, his modus operandi will obviously be leaked, which Kiritsugu knows many of the townspeople would not be okay with their chief of police having. Still, he doubts that they will have the time to divulge that before he gets everything he can out of this attempt. In the end, it's in the interest of everyone's escape. He feels no regret.]

Date: 2011-08-06 07:25 am (UTC)Why is being in love with Shirou a plot device for her?]I understand. [ It's stupid and she wants to say that, but Kiri thankfully doesn't get that honesty out of her. What kind of crimes are considered large offenses?

Date: 2011-08-06 07:43 am (UTC)[In truth, Kiritsugu wouldn't mind knowing of more people to watch out for, but he would much rather not have to deal with serious criminals right now, for the sake of his plan going smoothly.]

Date: 2011-08-06 07:56 am (UTC)[ There's still a considerable amount of apprehension in her voice. If she gets locked up, then she wouldn't be able to watch over Connla and Nepeta, but Lancer was able to slip into spirit form now.
Surely he's watching his own son now, leaving her with no real purpose in this town. Watching him meant that he was probably watching over Nepeta as well.
Helping this town.. maybe if he's able to uncover something, then she can find out for sure if everyone was back home. People say it's easier to think of it that way: to imagine Sakura and Shirou in each other's arms with the sun shining brightly over them, Archer safely tucked away at the Throne of Heroes, Illya.. Illya wherever little girls go when they are killed. ]
There's not many people in this town that can say I have yet to assault them. [ That doesn't seem grand enough in her mind though.
Swallowing hard, she follows up with: ] I'm an accessory to several murders.
[ Hope you didn't like Shirou's friends too much, Kiri. ]

Date: 2011-08-06 08:21 pm (UTC)Despite their past history of unbridled antagonism, there was one thing Kiritsugu had earned from Kirei: simply put, respect. Respect that had waned at the end of the fourth grail war, when he'd seen the other man as a broken husk. For the man called Magus Killer, whom Kiritsugu had acted more in the manner of the few times they had conversed in Mayfield? An enemy, certainly. A diametrically opposed existence? Yes. But he was still one to be respected.
It was to that extent Kirei answered the phone, voice betraying no more antagonism than normal, indeed it held a hint of curiosity.]
...Truly, would this be a wise course of action? What would you hope to gain from this, Emiya.

If you're trying for that position, you must be insane. On the other hand, having one of our own in the post could be beneficial...
To be fair, though, out of all of us...why is it that you want this? Why should it be you?

Date: 2011-08-06 09:28 pm (UTC)[No surprise at all. None that he displays, at least.]
[Unfortunately, Rin chose a very bad time to divulge this. Kiritsugu believes himself fully capable of using that piece of information to his advantage. He'd rather not, of course, but if he were to end with exactly five confessions at the end of the day...]
[He's... not proud of himself for that, no. Still, the very memory of the same people Rin's thinking about is what pushes Kiritsugu towards killing that voice inside his head shouting out his feelings.]
...In what way?

[While Kotomine's thoughts towards Kiritsugu are reciprocated in the belief that his enemy will be fully capable of putting the pieces of his plan together, this also happens to be the exact reason he doesn't feel at ease saying anything the priest may use. Kirei's dangerous enough as it is.]
[He wants to lie to him but, much to his chagrin, Kotomine knows him better than anyone in this town. He wouldn't believe that Kiritsugu's doing this for selfish reasons.]
There's no reason to divulge that to you.

Date: 2011-08-06 10:30 pm (UTC)[Though Kiritsugu is hardly used to playing by other people's terms, the current success of this gambit dictates that he must do so.]
That sounds acceptable. What kind of deal?

Date: 2011-08-06 10:34 pm (UTC)[Okay. That's a lie. Still, this plan is not going at such a bad pace.]
I appreciate the gesture, but there are other parts of the application you could help with, if you're up to it.

Date: 2011-08-06 10:38 pm (UTC)Nor is there reason to refrain from doing so. Well, save prejudices of the past, I suppose.
[Not bitter, merely correcting himself. Frankly, he expects most conversations with Kiritsugu to go this route.]
I am merely curious. Though I sincerely doubt you take such a path for personal gain, I find it difficult to fathom precisely why you believe it prudent.
